Whats On Nearby

You can enjoy both Wales and Shropshire as the Wales border runs across this campsite.

North Shropshire offers beautiful rolling countryside with rivers, canals and lakes called ‘meres’.

Ellesmere is 4 miles, a charming market town with half-timbered buildings offering shopping, golf, fishing and boating.

The Old Wharf tells of days when the Shropshire and Llangollen canals were important commercial routes.

Ellesmere

Ellesmere is the largest mere, though some guests prefer the beautiful Colemere nature reserve and circular walk. Both of which are perfect for walkers and dog-walkers alike

Wrexham has a good shopping center and a market which is the largest in Wales and open Monday to Saturday 9:00am – 4:30pm

On the outskirts of the town is the imposing Erddig House and gardens.

A little to the South, Chirk has a fine 700 year-old castle with valley views and an historic canal aqueduct.

From Trevor Marina you can walk across the dramatic Pontcysyllte aqueduct which carries the Llangollen Canal 126ft above the River Dee below.

There are footpaths and picnic spots along the river where you’ll also find The Telford Inn offering refreshments.

The bridle path walk to Llangollen is a level 4 miles with scenic views across the valley to Llangollen golf club.

Llangollen is a lively town, overlooked by an ancient castle and bridging the River Dee as it spills over rocks past riverside cafes and pubs.

Llangollen hosts the International Musical Eisteddfod each second week of July.

The Llangollen Steam Railway operates from the restored riverside station taking passengers to Carrog in the Berryn Mountains.

Berryn, Carrog and the Horseshoe Pass are beautiful walking country.

Lake Vyrnwy is a massive reservoir and dam surrounded by 16,000 acres of RSPB reserve and you can see one of Wales’ highest waterfalls, Pistyll Rhaeadr, plunge 240ft into a deep pool at Llanhaedr.

If you enjoy horse racing, we are convenient for meetings at Bangor-on-Dee while Chester Race Course is 20 miles.
